They can be detected at a ratio of 1:100,000 (10 grams per 1,000 kg of product), which is significantly more accurate than traditional methods such as the manganese-protein method. A key advantage is that test batches do not need to be discarded, allowing them to be distributed as regular production batches.
Additionally, micro tracers can be added in different colors at specific points during the mixing process, which helps validate mixing times. The analysis is immediate and reliable, as the micro tracers consist of fine iron particles coated with a non-toxic food-grade dye. During analysis, these dyes are activated, allowing the micro tracers to be easily counted.
Applications in the Feed Industry
Micro tracers are widely used in the animal feed industry, including livestock feed, pet food, and aquaculture. They help producers meet strict quality standards and regulatory requirements by verifying the homogeneity of feed mixtures and detecting carryover between production batches.
